Pumpkinfest in Mishicot is a time for family fun when the village celebrates the fall harvest season. Mishicot began celebrating the fall harvest as a way to introduce people to the village and all it has to offer. Pumpkinfest has grown every year since then. Today, pumpkins in one form or another can be found in all corners of the village during the fall celebration in the middle of October. School children make pumpkin decorations which are displayed in the windows of the local businesses. The pumpkin theme is everywhere. Games, decorations, contests, and foods revolve around orange pumpkins.
Mishicot’s Native American heritage also contributes to the fall celebration. Chief Mishicot, after whom the village is named, was a Potawatomi. Many Native Americans have joined Mishicot in its celebration of our fall harvest and our Native American roots by participating in the parade, providing drumming and dancing performances, and bringing food and craft vendors to the village.
